Essential Motif

I wanted a dinnerware collection for Poppy & Pepper that is of a quintessential Chinese design but made for dinning customs in today’s diverse Australia.
Many reoccurring motifs can been see today on heritage buildings and ancient artefacts, elegant begonia flower motif is one of them. Classic and timeless, found on interior decorations, even architectural structures like window frames. Chinese design style is known for its calming aesthetic endorsed by clean lines and simple forms.
In extension of the same characters, Cloud is born.

These dinnerwares must serve home cooking but in style. Curves and edges were thoughtfully designed, modelled and felt by hands. Delicate stoneware-like texture was intended for an earthy look & feel. Glaze colours were carefully considered, selected and tested, presented in sophisticated monochromatic palette.
