Material
Gas fired stoneware coated in gradient burnt sienna glaze
Craftsmanship process
We digitally created and 3D sculpted the larger patterns, then hand-carved the refined textures. For this bowl, we used a glaze-on-glaze technique: first, we poured glaze inside the bowl, allowing it to flow outward before spraying it again. Finally, we gas-fired the stoneware, sometimes twice, to manipulate the glaze colour.
Design
The shape of the bowl is inspired by a series of pottery discovered at the Sanxingdui archaeological site in Sichuan, China. The patterns are drawn from pottery remains dating back to the Neolithic era of ancient China.

IMPORTANT:
We captured our Neo ceramic collection outdoors in the natural sunlight, nestled under the shade of vibrant gum trees. Afterward, we carefully adjusted the images in post-production to maintain precise colour accuracy.
Our Burnt Sienna glaze exhibits a dynamic range, transitioning from a soft, creamy beige with subtle crazing to a rich, textured brick-red hue. This variety of tones is displayed across each piece, depending on how the glaze flows during the process.
The glaze settles into the intricate patterns and textures, naturally accentuating the unique surface details and enhancing the overall visual appeal.
Each piece of our ceramics is 100% handcrafted and hand-glazed, ensuring that every item is one-of-a-kind. The way the glaze moves through the designs and textures can vary from piece to piece, reflecting the individual craftsmanship behind each creation. These slight differences in appearance highlight the artistry and should be celebrated as part of the charm of our Poppy & Poppy ceramics.

Ideally wares should not touch each other in dishwasher to prevent scratches on glaze.
Sudden temperature change, such as from oven to cold bench, or from freezer to oven, may cause thermal shock and damage your wares. Always place cold dish onto the wire rack in oven and place hot dish on cloth or wooden surface.
