The sweet, delicate fairy wren and New Holland honeyeater beautifully mirror each other, complemented by pink wax flowers for a soft, tender look on our medium-sized bowl. The design is finished with a subtle Buddhism pattern in imperial yellow, making it a standout centrepiece in this classic collection.

Our lovely honeyeaters and wax flowers are illustrated by talented Australian artist Rachel Gyan.

Ideal for: a collectable piece for decorating your dining room, impressing guests, or presenting as a thoughtful gift for special occasions.

We donate 50 cents to an Australian conservation organisation for every Honeyeater bowl sold.

Description

Material

Crafted from high-quality porcelain clay, fired with semi-matte glaze, and finished with high-quality ceramic transfers.

Craftsmanship process

Our ware undergoes a meticulous three-stage firing process. Initially, we press the moulded clay body and fire it with a semi-matte, lightly speckled eggshell glaze. The second largest piece in the collection is hand-sprayed inside with glaze, followed by two careful layers of spray on the exterior to achieve a smooth, creamy finish. Artisans then meticulously hand-transfer the screen-printed pattern around the bowl, followed by firing. Illustrations are added and the bowl is fired once more to complete the process.

Design

Our Honeyeater bowl resembles a traditional Chinese teacup, the Harmony Cup, with an inward-tilting edge and elevated foot. Two sides of the bowl feature beautiful honey eaters adorned by lush delicate pink wax flowers that stretch inside the bowl. All are framed in ‘half windows’ shaped by a hairline Buddhism pattern in an imperial yellow colour.

Versatility

Perfect for serving a shared dish, casserole, soup, fruit salad, curry and more, our Honeyeater Bowl is designed to elevate any dining occasion.

Options

Another two bowls are available: Rosella Bowl & Robin Bowl

IMPORTANT: We photographed our cherished ceramic pieces under studio lighting, but the warmth of the glaze may look slightly different in various lighting conditions.

Illustrations and patterns are overglaze fired, they may be noticeable to touch. The firing process may cause ‘bubble-like’ effect on illustrations, which is normal.

The flow of the glaze can cause speckles to cluster unevenly, leading to variations in their distribution across different pieces.

Differences in glaze flow due to hand-dipping and spraying, along with slight variations in the placement of patterns and illustrations, underscore the unique, handcrafted nature of Poppy & Pepper ceramics and are part of their charm.

Care

Dishwasher, microwave and oven safe with care.

Ideally wares should not touch each other in dishwasher to prevent scratches on glaze.

Sudden temperature change, such as from oven to cold bench, or from freezer to oven, may cause thermal shock and damage your wares. Always place cold dish onto the wire rack in oven and place hot dish on cloth or wooden surface.

Due to the nature of the semi-matte glaze, prolonged contact with harsh metal utensils may leave consistent marks on the surface of glaze. We recommend using wooden or high-quality metal utensils.
