Craftsmanship process
Each mug in the Australian animal series begins its life on the potter’s wheel, formed by hand in clay or porcelain before being coated—inside and out — in food-safe glazes. The small animal tiles are kept unglazed to preserve the raw tactility of the clay. These tiles start as digital 3D sculptures, which are then 3D-printed, moulded in clay, and carefully attached by hand to each vessel. Our Poppy & Pepper mark is applied either through firing or laser engraving on the base.
Design
Every animal is captured mid-motion on a tiny ceramic tile, offering a moment of personality in relief. Tiles are positioned on classic, comfortable mug forms with handles designed to suit hands of all shapes and sizes. The glazing process is a blend of chemistry and chance: sometimes multiple colours are layered to encourage reactions in the extreme heat of a 1300°C gas kiln. During firing, the glazes shift, drift, and fuse into soft gradients, ensuring each mug emerges with a character all its own.
Versatility
Ideal for both hot and cold drinks—perfect for your everyday tea or coffee at home, at work, or wherever your ritual happens.
Options
Each animal mug is also available for individual purchase.
Note:
Our photographs are taken under controlled lighting and colour-corrected for accuracy. Because every mug is shaped, glazed, and fired by hand, natural variations in colour, pattern, and tile placement are to be expected—these differences are part of what makes each piece one-of-a-kind.
