Material
Crafted from ceramic clay and/or porcelain clay, with gradient glazes.
Craftsmanship process
Each Australian animal mug is hand thrown with either clay or porcelain; then hand glazed inside and outside with food-safe glazes. Animal tiles are covered to remain unglazed. The tiles themselves are created using digital 3D sculpting and printing techniques, then moulded with clay, before being hand mounted to the mug. Poppy & Pepper branding is either fired or lasered at the bottom of the mugs.
Design
Australian animals are depicted on a small ceramic tile in a moment of movement, designed to be unglazed to show the raw texture of clay. The animal tiles are mounted on various locations of classic shaped mugs with handles suitable for hands of all sizes. Mugs use a distinctive glazing technique; we blend various colours to induce chemical reactions in the intense 1300-degree heat of a gas kiln. Glazes transform during firing- the resulting mugs are wrapped in a gradient colour palette. No two mugs are ever the same; each has its own inherent uniqueness.

Note: We photographed our mugs under natural sunlight and corrected in post-production to ensure colour accuracy. The 100% hand-crafted nature of these mugs means every piece is unique. The glaze reacts and settles differently on each mug, so please expect variation in detail. Position of animal tiles may vary slightly.

Care
Dishwasher and microwave safe with care.
Ideally wares should not touch each other in dishwasher to prevent scratches on glaze and the ceramic animal tile.
Sudden temperature change, such as from oven to cold bench, or from freezer to oven, may cause thermal shock and damage your wares. Always place cold dish onto the wire rack in oven and place hot dish on cloth or wooden surface.
